It's been a long time...

Well... I thought I would be better at this blogging thing but I haven't been so great. It's been over a year since I made an entry. That is pretty sad. Especially for someone who actually likes to write. So I will try and bring this blog up to date. I am going to do it in several blog entries though instead of one long huge blog.

So this year started pretty uneventfully. I started the year 5 months pregnant. I had a fairly good pregnancy until the last month or so. I was pretty sick for the first 4 months but then things started to even out. I lost weight in those first 4 months and continued to lose weight throughout the pregnancy. By the end when I gained a little weight I was still under my pre-pregnancy weight. That was a good thing! Of course I don't recommend pregnancy as a way to lose weight. =) I mainly could only eat fruits and vegetables and then a little later some carbs. I could not eat red meat or dairy. The only meat I could really stomach was chicken. Believe me... after Jayden was born I could not wait to enjoy a nice fat hamburger! The weird thing for me was that I did not really want sweets at all until the very end. I actually had a carton of chocolate ice cream get freezer burnt! Amazing! My 2 favorite things - ice cream and chocolate. Anyway I am glad I didn't have any health problems during the pregnancy and Jayden was healthy as well. I did have to have a 3 hr blood glucose test done as my initial blood glucose test was a little on the high side. That was a LONG extensive test. I had to be at the lab for 4 hrs! Luckily Mom watched William for me so I didn't have to try and entertain him for that long. I was also lucky enough to get a room that had a recliner in it. I had to be there at 8am and had to fast for 12 hrs prior. It was pouring rain and the wind was blowing like crazy. I had my first blood draw done immediately when I got there. The technician got the needle in my arm and could not get blood to come out. She started pulling it back and pushing it in to try and find the vein. Eventually I think she hit the bone because afterwards my arm ached for about an hour and a half. Finally she went to the other arm and that time she was able to find the vein and get blood right away. Needless to say that is the arm we used for the next 3 draws. After half an hour I was able to drink the incredibly nasty sweet syrup stuff they give you. After that I had my blood drawn every hour for 3 hours. I had a nice bruise on my right arm for about a week from all the needle pokes. Luckily I got done around noon and they gave me a complimentary meal in the hospital cafeteria. Yum!!! =)

So I can see this blog has pretty much turned into my pregnancy blog. Oh well. I am glad that I am not preggo anymore. Even though it is neat to feel all those movements inside of you, I enjoy much more having him on the outside. Towards the end of my pregnancy I was very uncomfortable. I was having a lot of pain in my right hip and I was having very painful contractions for a month before he was born.
